Nina Leis discovered her passion and talent for event planning in 2001 when she began planning events for her local high school. A few years later, at the University of Texas, Austin, where she received her BS in Public Relations, Nina founded a womens social/service organization for which she planned dozens of unique events each year.
Upon graduating, Nina joined the Los Angeles office of Bain and Company, Inc, a global strategy consulting firm. Over the next few years, Nina was exposed to and worked with a variety of different Fortune 500 companies in industries ranging from Media and Entertainment to Consumer Products to High Tech. Given her high positive energy, fun personality and meticulous attention to detail, her co-workers soon began delegating to her the planning of all case-team events in addition to her normal consulting job. When she transferred to the San Francisco Bay Area, her reputation for planning awesome case team events preceded her and she was designated the title of “Fun Czar” on each of her cases. As her final assignment with Bain, Nina was asked to co-lead the planning for the office’s summer offsite in Napa Valley, California.
After getting engaged in 2008 and consuming everything related to events and weddings, Nina decided it was time to seriously explore event planning as a career. She started working with Equal Access International, a communications for social change non-profit in San Francisco, to plan its first large-scale charity event. A bit to her surprise, a lot of the skills she had gained working in management consulting - process and project management, organizational skills, careful consideration of finances and working closely with others - were also applicable to event planning and her passion for event planning quickly became more than just a hobby. In 2009, Leis Events (pronounced L-A-C-E) was founded to help busy people create the event of their dreams and enjoy each and every moment of the big day.
